Biden's Infirmities Are Not The Problem
Mocking The Infirmities of Politicians Debases Those Who Mock Them
By James Terminiello
Come now children, let's try to behave. Geez, I feel like I'm back in the third grade when I hear the critiques of presumed political pundits and commentators as they lacerate politicians clearly on the southern ends of their careers. Mocking Biden, McConnell, Fetterman, and the recently deceased Diane Feinstein because of their mental and/or physical infirmities is the lowest form of political attack.
And politics is already a vile and dirty business.
What is truly hurtful is that such behavior shows a mean spiritedness and, even worse, a lack of desire to hit these politicians where they can and should be hit - in their policies and political positions. I don't care if they are potty and decrepit. I do care if where they stand is contrary to my beliefs and detrimental to my future. The field is wide open and gaping for criticism on that level. But to resort to below the belt punches about bumping into walls and adult diapers proves nothing and makes me question the quality of the people who go that route. That would be the case even if I agreed with them!
If you feel that such and such a politician has declined to the point where he can no longer serve in a role that is quite demanding, that is fodder for commentary. But I've seen too many "professionals" take a far more juvenile approach in their criticism. We don't need this. The issues are too important and pivotal. Moreover, such mockery hurts the cause of those who are childish enough to aim so low.
It's time for these shallow critics to look inward. They may find a hollow shell that needs to be filled with actual thought. We can always use more of that.
Class dismissed!
