The rumors of his dotage had been flying about for some time and not only in Republican circles.   He still “ attended ” meetings, he made rambling  speeches, he replaced statesmanship with the roar of an angry old man, a nd he was studiously protected from taking questions from reporters.   Less Joy, More Substance – This is an Election!   By James Terminiello   The other day I received a letter from a contractor, for the sake of argument a gutter cleaner , s eek ing my business.  Of course , he offer ed premium quality work, at sensible prices, with reliability second to none in the rotten leaf /dead bug extraction trade.     Then , he veered way off course.     Leaping on a stump and telling tales like some digital-age Mark Twain,  he fondly recalled his 11-year-old self working side-by-side with his dad in a completely different business.
